Who Says Marijuana isn’t Dangerous?

It is natural. It isn’t a gateway drug. It doesn’t cause any harm to you. These are all common statements that people who smoke marijuana say. However the components in cannabis today are different. Instead of being grown outside in the open using all natural ingredients growing marijuana or cannabis has become an art form and its growers are producing the drug inside using grow lights and other ingredients that make marijuana stronger and more potent than it has ever been. The levels of THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, are higher than in the past causing some abusers to experience psychotic symptoms such as hallucinations and delusions. Other less potent types of marijuana contain an ingredient known as cannabidiol or CBD. CBD counteracts the THC in marijuana and minimizes psychotic side effects. The skunk cannabis being grown in the southeast has high levels of THC accompanied by very low levels of CBD resulting in more users experiencing psychotic side effects. It is becoming more common for individuals who abuse this skunk weed to experience mental health problems such as schizophrenia. Research is showing that those who abuse skunk week are more likely to experience psychotic illnesses like schizophrenia. Because marijuana is much more potent than it used to be individuals are more prone to becoming addicted. Unfortunately, the addiction has become so bad for some that they have had to seek help through addiction treatment. Like other drugs such as cocaine and heroin, this form of marijuana being produced in the southeast is destroying the future of its abusers and ruining entire families. Skunk marijuana it is now classified as a class B drug and is in the company of Codeine and Amphetamine.
