Residential Treatment & Relapse Recovery

relapse-recovery-treatment

Stepping Stone‘s residential treatment program is specifically designed for individuals who have recently relapsed. Our medical and clinical team provides a short-term (approximately 2-weeks), inpatient residential stay to help you hit the reset button on your recovery.

This is a highly focused recovery program designed for people who have been through treatment before. Throughout the Relapse Recovery Program, you will deep dive into the core of the situation that caused the relapse. Our staff will work with you to help work through how to better prepare yourself for “living life on life’s terms.” If you were working a recovery program prior to the relapse, we’ll help you get back on track. For those who haven’t been working a program, our staff will develop an individualized plan for you to stay the course with your sobriety.

Relapse can be a Part of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery

Everyone has a different recovery path. The one similarity you may find with your recovery and others in recovery is that they’ve encountered relapse too. At Stepping Stone Center for Recovery, we don’t judge because we know and understand it is part of many peoples’ recovery process. You may feel embarrassed or ashamed for faltering. Don’t. You haven’t failed. It’s really the opposite, you learned what doesn’t work so you can begin to understand, plan, and be prepared for future life events.

Our licensed medical staff and master’s level clinicians can help you get back to recovery with a short-stay to brush up on fundamental recovery skills. You’ll deep dive into what lead to the relapse, underlying issues you may need to take another look at, and revive your coping skills. The treatment team will also provide you with a comprehensive aftercare plan that is tailored to your personal needs that will act as a step-by-step guide for next steps to sustain sobriety. Beyond that, you’ll have continued access to a robust alumni community and a Certified Recovery Coach.

Treating the Whole Person

At Stepping Stone Center for Recovery, our licensed medical staff and master’s level clinicians address all aspects of your wellbeing. Treating the substance use disorder along with any co-occurring physical or mental health condition will set you up for success in your sobriety.

To properly treat all aspects, during your short stay in residential treatment you’ll complete comprehensive evaluations and assessments. To understand all that may be affecting your issues, we’ll provide:

  • A Physical Examination
  • A Psychiatric Examination
  • GAD-7 Screening Test to Evaluate for Anxiety
  • PHQ-9 Screening Test to Evaluate for Depression
  • MDQ Screening Test to Evaluate for Bipolar Disorder

If a psychiatric disorder is diagnosed, initial therapy will be provided, which may include medication therapy. Also, if physical issues are diagnosed, proper referrals to specialists will be arranged.

Components of the Relapse Recovery Treatment Center

For the duration of your residential care stay, which is typically about two weeks, you will participate in group therapy with a focus on relapse recovery, 12-step groups, and expressive therapies. You’ll have medical and psychiatric appointments as needed. Since you’re likely not experiencing any withdrawals, it’s atypical you’d need to spend any of your time in medical detox.

You will stay on-site in home-like, semi-private rooms and nutritious meals and snacks prepared by our full-time chef and dietary team. The entire facility is only 29 beds. Therefore, you’ll be part of an even smaller community conducive to engaging in productive and meaningful connections with staff and peers. Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is available during the treatment process. Also, it provides appropriate referrals for continued MAT as directed. An individualized, comprehensive aftercare plan will be provided with everything you’ll need to continue sobriety after discharge. Further, a Certified Recovery Coach and vibrant alumni community will be available to you for as long as you need.

Relapse Recovery Curriculum

Group psychotherapy is useful in addiction recovery because you can be honest and open with others who have been through experiences similar to your own. Being in groups of people with shared experiences is helpful in reminding you that you are not alone in your struggles. Also, it is a safe space to express worries, frustrations, and share coping strategies. For instance, the Relapse Recovery curriculum brings people together to discuss:

  • The Relapse Process
  • Asking for Help
  • Triggers, Cravings, and Coping Skills
  • Challenges and Rewards in Early Recovery
  • Relapse Warning Signs
  • Character Defects
  • Life in Recovery
  • Developing Your Relapse Prevention Plan

What is a Relapse?

A relapse is returning to a substance or behavior that you have previously stopped. Common factors associated with relapse are:

  • Not knowing warning signs
  • Lack of coping skills
  • Lack of understanding of triggers and cravings
  • Limited support network
  • Difficulty balancing life after treatment

Relapse does not start only when you use alcohol or drugs. Instead, it is the end result of events that started days, weeks, or even months before. Therefore, relapse is a process and not just an event.

If the above definition resonates with you, we can help. The expert staff at Stepping Stone Center for Recovery are ready to help you get back on track with recovery. Our admissions team is available 24/7 to complete a confidential assessment or simply answer your questions. We are here when you are ready to pick up the reigns for your recovery.
